Job description

Role: Health and Safety Advisor

Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 + Company Car

Location: Purfleet

Duration: 6 months FTC

We are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join our team in Purfleet, covering the South East region on a fixed term contract for 6 months.

Can you engage in positive safety conversations? If so, Portakabin is committed to achieving zero harm; this role will be instrumental in achieving this by working within the UK Health, Safety and Environmental team to directly influence our safety culture. Your role will be to help us improve our day-to-day HSE compliance by managing accident, incident, near miss and don’t walk by investigations and mitigation.

You will engage in a proactive and positive health and safety culture where accident and incident prevention is paramount and where we strive to be an industry leader in Health, Safety and Environmental best practice.

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will:
  1. Engage in a positive health and safety culture where prevention is paramount and we strive for recognition as an industry leader in Health Safety and Environmental best practice.
  2. Develop and engage sound relationships with internal and external customers.
  3. Carry out site audits to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  4. Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced.
  5. Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation.
  6. Take a lead role in accident/incident and near miss investigation, ensure corrective actions are concluded and follow up closure of all issues.

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

  1. NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
  2. Member of IOSH.
  3. Previous experience of working in a Health and Safety position, undertaking health and Safety audits with a good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
  4. Experience of working in a similar environment such as manufacturing / logistics / multi-site environment.
  5. Experience of team working as well as being self-motivated.
  6. Can analyse data, identify trends and produce meaningful reports.
  7. Excellent persuading and influencing skills, capable of delivering coaching and training.
  8. Full UK driving licence.
