Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Regional Commercial Manager to join our client, a leading construction company working within their civil engineering division (across several sectors including rail, highways, aviation and others).


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaborate with the Operations Director to develop and manage the regional business plan.
  2. Recruit, train, and effectively deploy commercial staff.
  3. Maximize financial returns on projects through strategic management.
  4. Identify and mitigate commercial risks, developing solutions as needed.
  5. Review and negotiate terms and conditions of contracts/subcontracts pre and post tender award.
  6. Manage and resolve commercial disputes.
  7. Monitor Business Unit costs to remain within budget constraints.
  8. Define the commercial parameters of contracts accurately.
  9. Maintain healthy cash flow within the Business Unit.
  10. Provide commercial support and guidance to the Business Unit Management Team.
  11. Support estimating and bidding processes with commercial and contractual expertise.
  12. Contribute to the commercial requirements of pre-qualification and tender documents.
  13. Promote best practices and continuous improvement in all commercial processes.
  14. Serve as a visible commercial contact for client senior management and respond to issues as they arise.
  15. Ensure thorough tender handovers so that pricing strategies, risks, and opportunities are communicated effectively to the project team.
  16. Aid in the development and management of the Business Unit’s forecasts and Business Plan.
  17. Undertake other tasks as directed by line managers.

Qualifications and Experience:
  1. Proven experience in a lead commercial role (Commercial Manager, Senior Commercial Manager, or Regional Commercial Manager) within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  2. Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (Degree level).
  3. Familiarity with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract.
  4. Experience managing multi-disciplinary maintenance engineering projects in a contracting environment.
