Location: Westminster

There’s no greater mission than keeping the public safe and it’s through our people we do that each and every day. That’s why this role is integral to the success of the Metropolitan Police Service.

We’re made up of nearly 40,000 officers and staff and we police the whole of London. We do so with frontline officers in the heart of communities, with blue lights and sirens, with boats and helicopters, with dogs and horses, with firearms commands, forensics teams, hundreds of dedicated 999 call handlers and so much more. This is one of the most exciting places to be a communicator.

We now need someone bold and creative who can cut through the noise, push boundaries and lead the delivery of innovative, insight-driven campaigns attracting more brilliant people to the Met.

If you’re highly creative, a pro at paid-for and have strong experience building powerful campaigns in tough circumstances then this job is for you.

Alongside attracting new talent to our organisation, you’ll also be central to the delivery of campaigns which prevent crime, deter criminals and protect the public. You will be at the heart of making London a safer city.

We need an experienced campaigner and leader with proven experience managing high budget campaigns, agencies and suppliers – so your project management skills need to be top notch.

We’re a public service and utilise public money, so you’ll also have the creativity and know-how to maximise low and no cost marketing opportunities and be able to effectively evaluate in order to show true value for money.

The jobs our people do are as varied as the communities we protect so we’re looking for someone who can inject creativity into how we target audiences, including those that are hard to reach. That’s why using data, insight and best practice must come second nature to you and you’ll need to be confident in leading a team to deliver campaigns at the frontier of the marketing space.

You will be comfortable working with and pitching to the most senior leaders of organisations and will be able to quickly gain an understanding of how different issues impact different parts of the Met.

Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, Campaigns and Internal Communication you will work closely with operational colleagues and your counterparts in press, internal, digital, external affairs, and visits to maximise campaign effectiveness.

This role sits in a newly created unit which merges external campaigning with internal engagement. You’ll directly manage a small team that support your work and may be required to matrix manage on specific projects.

You must be able to demonstrate the gravitas and leadership skills to bring large numbers of people together under a common goal.

Additional Information

You will be based in New Scotland Yard but may be required to work at other Met buildings across London where the need arises.

You may very occasionally be required to work out of hours in the event of a major crisis, for which overtime will be paid.
