We Are With You's Bournemouth SPOC (Single Point of Contact) Service provides free and confidential support to people who need support with alcohol and substance use. This role will focus on working with those aged 50 plus.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be based in the Single Point of contact (SPOC) team with a focus on working with those aged 50 plus. The SPOC Team support service users at the beginning of their treatment journey within the BCP treatment system. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, managing a caseload, care planning, risk management and supporting clients to achieve their personalised goals. We deliver harm minimisation interventions within our needle exchange and deliver psychosocial interventions within our workshops carrying out preparation and aftercare planning to support referrals towards detoxifications programmes and residential rehabilitation.

Job responsibilities

If you have a compassionate nature and a genuine desire to help others, you could be just what we're looking for. You will have your own caseload, working both on your own and as part of our team alongside other social care services as well as assertively outreaching hard to engage clients.

You will develop recovery plans with your clients to help them get their lives back to where they want them to be. There will be assessments to carry out and records you need to keep and update, that's all part of our professional commitment and service to our clients and commissioners.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• A driving license and access to a vehicle
• NVQ in Health and Social care or willingness to work towards this
• Should you be successful in your application, you will be required to provide 3 years' worth of references and where applicable, will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Experience

• Demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting
• Successful track record of working with substance misuse service users
• Ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to work effectively as a team player
• Resilient, with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Organised and excellent time management skills
• Knowledge and understanding of: Group working; Assessment, care planning and key working; Issues affecting substance misusers; Rehabilitation; Solution focused brief therapy and/or motivational interviewing
