React Lead Engineer | Trading House - Greenfield Derivatives Trading Build | £90,000 | Belfast City

A Senior React Engineer is needed for a Belfast-based Hedge Fund that operates across energy, commodities, equities, and financial markets. The firm provides a data-powered technology platform, market access, and infrastructure services to clients and is currently building a Greenfield Trading System.

This role requires an expert-level React developer to work closely with the Front Office trading desk, developing cutting-edge applications to support hedging, risk management, pricing, and trading activities. The new system will replace off-the-shelf trading software and be packaged as a SAAS product for competitors.

Role Overview:

1. Design & implement high-performance React applications for trading and risk management.
2. Lead the architecture, development, and deployment of a Greenfield trading application.
3. Work directly with traders to deliver UI/UX solutions that optimize pricing and execution workflows.
4. Establish best practices for React development, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
5. Drive mentorship and upskilling, guiding a team with strong backend knowledge but limited frontend expertise.

Tech Stack & Requirements:

1. Expert React.js skills (Hooks, Context API, Redux, TypeScript).
2. Strong JavaScript & front-end architecture experience.
3. Experience building real-time, high-performance web applications.
4. Knowledge of WebSockets, REST APIs, and integration with backend services.
5. Experience working in a Front Office trading environment (pricing, derivatives, risk, sales & trading).
6. Leadership experience – mentoring & setting technical direction.
