Anderson Knight is currently recruiting a Raw Materials Manager for one of our clients based in the Central Belt of Scotland. Our client is a leader in the food manufacturing industry operating across the United Kingdom and Europe. As the Raw Materials Manager, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the supply of safe, legal, authentic, and high-quality raw materials necessary for the production of the company's products. You will oversee compliance with certification standards and address specific customer requirements. Depending on the location of the role, you will manage multiple product categories in alignment with procurement and develop expertise in those areas.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Raw Material Specifications: Reviewing and approving all raw material specifications within the Ideagen/QADEX database, aiming for gold standard content. Using the key information from the approved specifications and the main contacts at the suppliers, support and advise sites on any raw material concessions and shelf-life extensions.
Risk Assessments: Raw material risk assessment must be populated within Ideagen/QADEX. Where the outcome of the risk assessments results in a high-risk rating, these results must be integrated into the supplier risk assessment scoring, which may further impact the overall supplier audit requirements. Completion of VACCP risk assessments should follow the procedural frequency, with the outcomes fed into the raw material and supplier risk assessments. Ensure compliance with any customer-specific risk assessment criteria. Using knowledge from the risk assessment outcomes and RASFF trends, create a suitably robust, dynamic, risk-based raw material testing schedule to ensure tighter controls and enhanced due diligence. This should be reviewed in line with the risk assessment review process.
Group Technical Systems/Process Monitoring: Track and report the performance of the raw material specification review process. Monitor and trend weekly RASFF alerts, escalating any alerts relevant to our raw materials or countries of origin, along with any new emerging trends. Ensure appropriate due diligence for any identified trends. Maintain general housekeeping and system cleansing (e.g. archiving, delisting). Work with systems controllers to ensure any issues are raised and resolved.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Food Science Based Degree Qualification or similar or 5+ years of Food Manufacturing experience (Including a Food Safety Certification)
Experience in using a Risk Assessment based approach
Proven track record and detailed knowledge of key raw materials
Food Law Awareness
Allergen Awareness
VACCP knowledge/experience
