  • Schedule: Full-Time Days; 5, 8-hour shifts, Monday - Friday - 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
  • Hospital: UAB St. Vincent's East - Trussville
  • Location: Birmingham, AL

UAB St. Vincent's invites you to join our team as a Radiology Technologist and expand your skills in the Electrophysiology Labs area. Comprehensive training provided – take advantage of this opportunity to advance your career in healthcare.

As a Cath Lab Tech, or Cardiac Catheterization Technologist, at UAB St. Vincent's, you will work in a cardiac catheterization lab, assisting with heart procedures. Collaborating with cardiologists, nurses, and other specialists, you will help perform minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat heart conditions.

Our 12 week orientation ensures safe practices, comfortability and a strong knowledge base that will help support you in your career growth and development.

What You Will Do

Perform vascular diagnostic procedures to detect peripheral vascular disease or obstructions:

  • Evaluate patient for presence of peripheral vascular disease by selecting most effective procedures within regulatory and compliance guidelines.
  • Perform appropriate diagnostic procedures, record patient test results and report results.
  • Monitor patient comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and verify all equipment is in proper working condition; report deficiencies and failures.
  • Position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Ensure all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area, and any other areas in the department.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Sonography Tech specializing in Vascular Sonography credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
    • Sonography Tech obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
