Job description

At Saputo, we bring good to the table by making high-quality products, investing in our people, and supporting communities around the world. As a top 10 global dairy processor, we value contributions that matter and strive to foster an inclusive, growth-driven work environment. Ready to bring your best?

Join our R&D team at Saputo Dairy UK, where you'll play a crucial role in planning, organising, and delivering the NPD program for Wensleydale, Foodservice, and Own Label customers. You'll evaluate and develop innovative cheese products, working closely with internal teams and external partners to bring new ideas to market. Your efforts will ensure timely project delivery, adherence to company procedures, and compliance with all relevant legislation.

You will make contributions that matter by...

  • Supporting the R&D Team with new NPD ideas/concepts to develop an Innovation funnel for 3-5 years for Wensleydale, Foodservice, and Own Label products.
  • Managing innovation projects from insight and idea generation to product launch.
  • Communicating effectively with the Retailer, Marketing, and Innovation teams to promote ideas and gain feedback.
  • Planning and liaising with customers, suppliers, production sites, and packaging to ensure facilities are available, deadlines are met, and products meet all specifications.
  • Assisting with managing and creatively overcoming any difficulties encountered during pilot scale-up or commissioning trials.

You are best suited for the role if you…

  • Possess knowledge equivalent to a degree in Food Science, Technology, Engineering, or a related field, with at least 2-3 years of experience in the food industry, ideally in chilled products. Experience with the cheese-making process and additive blending is desired but not essential. A natural curiosity for this category is expected.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the food industry, including suppliers and the properties and applications of various ingredients added to cheese.
  • Are creative, innovative, and investigative.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Work effectively within a team or on your own initiative.

We support and care for our employees by providing them with…

  • Bonus scheme - paid quarterly.
  • Health cash plan - claim money back towards essential healthcare such as dental, eye care etc.
  • Access to Thrive 24-hours a day - a leading and NHS clinically approved app which focuses on general wellbeing.
  • Discounted branded products.
  • 25 holidays + 8 bank holidays.
  • My Staff Shop - access to exclusive benefits, free advice and savings - providing great discounts from thousands of the UK’s largest retailers & service providers.

To enable you to bring your best we will ensure you are provided with any physical or non-physical adjustments to support your participation in the job application and interview process.

This role has been assessed and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

In the UK, Saputo is a leading manufacturer of branded cheese and dairy spreads, with a portfolio of well-loved brands such as Cathedral City, Clover, and Wensleydale. We also boast a fast-growing dairy alternatives portfolio, which includes the Vitalite and Sheese brands, as well as manufacture specialised ingredients used in infant formula.

Whether your expertise lies in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, sales, quality assurance, or in any other function, your role is integral to our success. You will make contributions that matter, all while working alongside colleagues who genuinely care about your success and who will roll up their sleeves to help.
