R&D Chemist

R&D Chemist required, based in Greater Manchester. Requiring recent and proven industrial experience in the formulation and development of inks/coatings.

Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Term: Permanent

SRG are working with a well-established company who specialise in the manufacture of speciality inks and coatings for a range of industries. With a busy technical department, they are now looking for a new R&D Chemist to join the team at their site based in Greater Manchester. The role will primarily involve supporting in the Research & Development (R&D) of new and existing ink products, as well as research activities in areas such as colour, polymer formulation, colour matching and physical ink properties.

Role / Description

1. Conducting research and development for new and existing formulated ink products
2. Leading research activities in areas concerning colorant and polymer formulation, jetting, colour matching, ink physical properties (viscosity, surface tension, dynamic ST, etc.)
3. Working to rapid deadlines with shifting priorities whilst producing high quality, accurate and reliable data, whilst maintaining sufficient records of work
4. Supporting and leading process improvement projects across Research and Development
5. Maintain technical expertise in the field of inks and coatings including new developments in processes and chemistry.
6. Interact with internal departments to maximize their effectiveness and improve the technical knowledge base within the R&D group
7. Interact with Tech Services, QC, Production, Marketing & other R&D teams as necessary to provide information, data and samples to the customer

Requirements

1. Degree in Chemistry (or similar)
2. Recent and proven industrial experience of formulating and developing inks/coatings
3. Able to manage own projects and adapt to changing priorities
4. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
