Job description

Job title: Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 (DOE) + Car package

Location: Orpington

Sector: Repairs & Maintenance

Daniel Owen are proud to be representing a Social Housing Contractor in the South-East London area that is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team and oversee repairs and painting/decorating projects.

You will be responsible for individual contractor accounts, regular reports and analysis, and providing commercial insight to ensure financial efficiency is achieved.

You will play a key role in budget management, reviewing applications for payments, and creating weekly and monthly reports for the Commercial Manager and Commercial Director as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Support project delivery whilst achieving target margins
  • Ensure all necessary contractual processes have been observed, notices issued, records kept and documents stored
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, consultants, subcontractors, and colleagues
  • Prepare and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts including all necessary measurements
  • Document and record any agreements of variations with the supply chain
To be successful in the role you will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Experience in a repairs quantity surveying/commercial environment
  • Experience in a social housing/housing maintenance environment
  • Understanding of NHF and other bespoke schedule of rate based contracts
  • Good planning, budgeting, organizing, and prioritization skills with experience in maintaining sound business records
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to interpret financial and other systems data; good standard of written business English and proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Able to build and sustain working relationships with different departments to achieve goals
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple activities and priorities to a deadline
  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities and a desire to develop new skills to progress within the organization
