Job Description

Job Title: Groundworks Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor operating across the North West. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in groundworks, infrastructure, and associated civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial control, cost management, and contractual administration of multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage all commercial aspects of groundworks projects, from tender to final account.
  2. Prepare and submit valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
  3. Monitor project budgets and ensure cost control measures are in place.
  4. Identify, evaluate, and manage risks associated with contracts.
  5. Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and site teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  6. Conduct site visits to monitor progress and assess variations or additional costs.
  7. Prepare detailed reports, cost estimates, and cash flow forecasts.
  8. Negotiate contracts and procurement of materials and subcontractor services.
  9. Ensure compliance with relevant contract terms and industry regulations.
  10. Assist in dispute resolution and claims management as required.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the groundworks or civil engineering sector.
  2. Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
  3. Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  4. Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office.
  5. Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  6. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  7. Full UK driving license (required for site visits).
