A Regional Civil contractor is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work on a range of civil engineering projects across the Kent region, including heavy civil structures, civil infrastructure, groundworks, and roadworks.
We are seeking a degree-qualified candidate with at least two years of experience within the Civil Engineering industry and experience with NEC contracts.
Principal Duties & Accountabilities:
- Understand the contractual requirements of project documents, including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record changes. Coordinate any responses required with the Commercial Manager.
- Cost management for project/section of works.
- Understand allowances for elements of work (preliminaries, materials, subcontract, etc.).
- Understand forecast cost to completion.
- Value management for project/section of works.
- Prepare interim and final accounts.
- Understand true value at the end of the reporting period and compare with actual costs expended.
- Understand forecast final value at completion.
- Record changes and allocate responsibility.
- Evaluate and recover any change that is not risk/liability, including recovery from third parties.
- Manage risk and opportunity for project/section of works.
- Work with the operations team to manage known and newly identified risks and opportunities for the best project return.
- Identify and implement mitigation measures.
- Procure for project/section of works.
- Ensure all involved in procurement for the project understand allowances for items they are responsible for and the procedures to be followed.
- Maintain procurement schedules.
- Prepare subcontract documentation, issue inquiries, and negotiate agreements, including interim and final accounts.
- Financial reporting for project/section of works.
- Prepare and issue monthly cost/value reconciliations and cost/forecast reconciliations.
- Prepare cash forecasts.
- Identify, prepare, and negotiate claims.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Optimize commercial return on a section or whole project.
- Control cost, value, cash management, change, and risk on a section or whole project.
- Provide timely detailed reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager.
- Support the commercial development of all staff within the job holder’s area of responsibility.
- Ensure timely procurement of subcontractors in accordance with company procedures.
- Contribute towards continued improvement within the business.
