Job description

Job Title: Quality Technician

Location: Wigan

Reports to: Quality Manager

Hours: Mon - Thurs 08:00 - 16:30, Fri 08:00 - 16:00

Salary: £25000 - £28000 depending on experience

Contract: 12 Month Contract - Maternity Cover

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Technician to join their Technical and Quality team. This role is crucial in maintaining product specifications, managing technical databases, and ensuring compliance with due diligence testing programs. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have an eye for quality and process improvements, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Quality Duties:
  1. Conduct internal audits to support ISO 9001 certification.
  2. Manage non-conformance reports, track corrective actions, and follow up on resolutions.
  3. Maintain and update technical specifications and image libraries.
  4. Oversee quilt weight data within weight capture software.
  5. Coordinate sample requests and ensure accurate specification amendments.
  6. Ensure testing and reporting align with retailer compliance requirements.
  7. Maintain and update customer technical portals.
  8. Organize test samples for annual and routine due diligence testing, ensuring timely reporting.
Safety & Compliance:
  1. Uphold health and safety standards across all areas of responsibility.
  2. Promote a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
  3. Take a proactive role in improving safety culture and behavior.
Team & Collaboration:
  1. Work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to improve processes and ensure quality standards.
  2. Participate in training new team members and sharing best practices.
  3. Support cross-functional projects and initiatives to drive business improvements.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Skills & Experience:
  1. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and a relevant subject (Grade C or above).
  2. Strong IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  3. Excellent attention to detail with strong time management and organizational skills.
  4. Previous experience in a factory or textile manufacturing environment is desirable.
  5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  6. Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently and within a team.
