Quality Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Lead to join our committed Senior Leadership Team on a permanent, full-time basis. The hospital comprises of a well-equipped theatre & purpose-built procedure room, outpatients department, minor injury and illness unit and x-ray. You will be working with a compassionate team committed to delivering the best in care and rated Good by the Care Quality Commission. As we continue to expand the services we offer, we are seeking an experienced Quality Lead.

Specifically, the role will be responsible for supporting the Clinical Lead (Matron) and Senior Leadership Team in leading and implementing the following areas within their scope of responsibility:

1. Incident management and assurance.
2. Incident reporting and dashboard development.
3. Management of incidents, investigations and complaints.
4. Implementation and monitoring of compliance against quality and safety related standards, policies and guidance.
5. Coordinating PROMs and PREMs activity.
6. Coordination and monitoring of safety alert implementation.

Job responsibilities

Job Summary

The Quality Lead will lead the response to both clinical and corporate risk. The postholder will work across the hospital and be responsible for supporting the delivery of the patient safety and quality improvement strategy to create a patient safety culture that focuses on high quality care standards, preventing avoidable harm and using evidence best practice, lessons learned and data to identify themes, and areas for improvement.

The post holder will promote patient safety and contribute to the development of organisational learning and improvements in clinical risk and patient safety at service and organisational level. This will be done by promoting a culture in which reporting of incidents and learning from incidents is routine practice and is recognised by staff as a means of improving the quality of decisions.

The Quality lead will support the Senior Leadership Team and Department Managers to discharge their responsibility to manage risk and ensure comprehensive investigations are carried out and result in sustained change and improvement to patient care.

The post holder will deputise for the Clinical Lead (Matron) as directed and appropriate.

Key tasks

1. Lead the clinical audit programme and provide assurance of the quality and safety of the services provided by the Trust.
2. Lead and develop the Trust's quality strategy and agenda.
3. Work with the Clinical Lead (Matron) and other clinical managers to develop clinical guidelines, policies and procedures relating to the clinical services provided by the Trust.
4. Use expert knowledge, practice and critical judgement skills to continuously seek to identify and develop areas where current practice could be modified to improve patient outcomes.
5. Ensure clinical and non-clinical incidents are reported in accordance with the Trust's risk management policy and patient safety incident reporting framework (PSIRF).
6. Have oversight of improvement action plans in response to identified risks.
7. Maintain oversight of the Trust's risk register ensuring that risks are reviewed in accordance with the Trust's risk management policy and updated continuously.

Person Specification

Experience

• Significant experience of quality risk and audit agenda.
• Experience of working at a Senior Leadership Team level.
• Experience of project management and team leadership.
• Experience of regulatory framework systems and processes.
• Experience and understanding of clinical audit methodologies.
• Evidence of managing change and change management.
• Knowledge of the NHS Patient Safety Incident Reporting Framework (PSIRF)

Other

• To be aware of all aspects of statutory responsibilities, e.g. health and safety, data protection, manual handling.
• Able to fulfil clinical occupational health requirements.

Qualifications

• Healthcare professional. Registration / Registered Nurse.
• Evidence of continuing professional development.
• Evidence of working at degree level or relevant experience.
• National Patient Safety Level 4 or willingness to work towards.
• Experience of safeguarding adults and children.
• Have or working towards a management/leadership qualification.
• Level 4 safeguarding adults and children.
