Job description

Job Title: Quality Inspector


Job Summary: The Quality Inspector reports to the Quality Manager and supports the inspection of precision machined parts. Responsibilities include conducting first-off, final, and batch inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards. The role is adaptable and may change to meet business needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inspect parts using CMM machinery and manual precision tools (micrometers, Verniers).
  2. Perform first-off and final inspections to ensure compliance with specifications.
  3. Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and refine inspection processes.
  4. Ensure all components conform to drawing tolerances.
  5. Report non-conformance issues (NCR) and follow company procedures.
  6. Maintain calibrated and functional inspection equipment.
  7. Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues promptly.
  8. Work with Quality Engineers to provide data for Corrective Actions (CA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Required Experience & Skills:

  1. Experience in precision engineering and assembly.
  2. Strong knowledge of CMM machinery and manual measuring tools.
  3. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  4. Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ERP/MRP systems (IFS preferred).
  5. Proficient with Office 365 applications.
  6. CMM programming knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications:

  1. City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  2. HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering is advantageous but not required.
