Job Description
Background & Job Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Head of Business Transformation, and within the Defect Free team, the Quality Excellence Manager will work closely with the project teams and our supply chain, helping to educate, coach and support with the ultimate outcome of improving how we deliver each project. This role is not an auditor role, nor is it a snagging manager / finishing foreman role; however, hands-on project delivery experience is a must.
Job Scope:
The successful candidate will work within a direct team of 3, complementing the existing skillsets to help deliver on our ambitious Defect Free 2025 business plan. All members of the team will be equally involved in day-to-day activities; however, the successful candidate will bring with them practical project delivery and quality experience.
Defect Free is the promise we make to our clients, and therefore this role is key to how we deliver our projects, the experience we give to our clients, and the success and profitability of BW as a whole. The role of Quality Excellence Manager will be a supporting and educating role, and will not take ultimate responsibility for Defect Free away from our project teams.
Core Activities:
- Advising on best practices for quality management that are appropriate and achievable within the tight programmes of fast-track fit out projects
- Assisting the Head of Business Transformation with running client and subcontractor Defect Free workshops on all projects
- Delivering Defect Free toolbox talks to supply chain and internal teams
- Running Defect Free inductions for any new supply chain partners
- Monitoring Defect Free metrics across Procore and Hammertech (our project management systems), working with the team to use the data we gather to spot trends and take proactive action
- Engaging with client consultants and subcontractors to help understand and remove Defect Free and quality blockers
- Sharing responsibility for running internal Lessons Learnt sessions, using the data we gather to spot trends and take proactive action
- Assisting with organising 4 x Quarterly Construction Forum per year and other knowledge-sharing events
- Helping to reshape our site setup standards to suit various project budgets
- Attending all project handovers
- Ongoing mentoring and support for our project teams around Defect Free topics
- Assisting with organising internal and external CPDs to bolster Defect Free learning
- Other ad hoc innovation projects that come up within the Defect Free strategy as it evolves
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the personal qualities, values and attitudes which are so important to the business and to the role:
- You should possess relevant, proven experience from a fit-out or construction background, and have delivered projects yourself. This role would suit a construction or project manager looking for a change.
- Construction project management software experience is preferable; Procore experience would be amazing.
- You should be a confident communicator, who enjoys working with lots of different types of people and getting the best out of them through building meaningful relationships
- You should be a proactive team player with the ability to multi-task and manage your own diary
- You must also be able to work efficiently and independently, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and adaptability
- You should be committed to a culture of learning and achieving high standards in everything we do
- You must be interested in innovation and improvement and want to get out of bed every day to make things that little bit better!
