Job description

About the role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will assist with the development and implementation of quality activities for both engineering and manufacturing disciplines with the emphasis on error prevention, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, legislation, regulation, international standards adherence and the reduction of variation and waste in all elements of the product lifecycle. This will range from initial development phases through prototyping to production and the life cycle of the product. Understanding of new product introduction processes is required, as is Conformity of Production requirements.

You will be expected to assist FMEA activities, Concerns resolution/ Problem solving activities, provide KPI information and improvement actions.

In new programme activities, you will support prototype builds as well as the production launch and ramp to full production.

You must be an excellent communicator and presenter, capable of liaising with and influencing all relevant departments.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

In your role as our Quality Engineer, you will:

  1. Assisting with Developing, implementing and maintaining quality processes (throughout the organisation), documentation and metrics including process maps, procedures, processes and various registers and logs to demonstrate compliance to Part 21 Subpart G, Part 21 Subpart J and AS9100.
  2. Compile, maintain and key quality documents, including customer Quality Plans and FAI Reports.
  3. Performing internal audits/ surveillance to verify compliance to Part 21 Subpart G, Part 21 Subpart J, AS9100 and specific customer requirements.
  4. Supporting the Site Quality Manager to develop, implement and maintain the Business Management systems to meet legislative/ regulatory requirements, the needs of customers, the business and its stakeholders.
  5. Supporting business processes and personnel in continuous improvement activities in addition to providing information concerning product and process quality performance.
  6. Supporting the New Product Introduction (prototype and production build support) process through quality planning and implementation within the Quality team.
  7. Assist the development of internal PFMEAs, process flow charts and AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
  8. Review and investigate concessions, production permits, internal and customer rejects and returns.
  9. Liaise with other approved production and design organisations as necessary.
  10. Assist with the management of non-conformances/ occurrence reports and lead investigation and resolution using problem solving techniques.
  11. Issue airworthiness certificate (Form1s) to goods being dispatched upon completing the obligations associated with the role of a signatory.
  12. Carrying out supplier quality assurance activities in order to meet internal and specific customer requirements.
  13. Ensuring all quality data is captured and analysed against targets taking action on adverse variation to standard and reporting KPIs.
  14. Able to use crucial Quality tools in order to continually increase the performance of manufacturing from a quality perspective (FMEA, RCA, SPC, Process capability studies / MSA, Gauge R&R etc).
  15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  16. Experience in project/time management and the ability to prioritize job duties and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  17. Perform any other activities necessary to ensure the Quality department achieves its deliverables and objectives.

  1. 5 GSE's inc. English language and Mathematics.
  2. Diploma / Certificate in Engineering or Quality.
  3. Able to read, understand and interpret engineering information.
  4. Strong quality and/or aerospace background gained within medium to high volume manufacturing.
  5. Knowledge and appreciation of ISO9001:2015.
  6. IT literate - Effective use of Microsoft Office software; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access.
  7. Audit Report writing & ability to present data effectively.
  8. Able to use of the crucial Quality tools in order to continually increase the performance of manufacturing from a quality perspective (FMEA, RCA, SPC, Process capability studies / MSA, Gauge R&R etc.).
  9. Experience in project/time management and the ability to prioritize job duties and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Ability to communicate and influence at all levels both internally and externally.
Desirable:
  1. Engineering Degree.
  2. Trained and experienced Internal Auditor (AS9100).
  3. Experience of AS9102, AS9100, CAA Part 21G & J and Defense/Aerospace Quality Standards and requirements.
