Position Overview:
BDUK is looking for a highly skilled P145 Quality Engineer to support its UK E-7 contract. This requisition is for a fixed term local hire, to support the E7 Flight Test phase. The E-7 Flight Test P145 Quality Assurance Engineer will be part of the growing BDUK Quality team, working within the Fixed Wing area, reporting to the BDUK Fixed Wing Quality Manager, conducting P145 assurance activities, Safety & Local investigations, quarantine control, internal auditing against the audit plan and other tasks associated with the flight test phase. This requirement is for a fixed term employment of 22 months.
The UK E7 aircraft are being produced under MRP Part 21/Boeing Production processes at the production site at Birmingham Airport, with the flight test phase being principally based at RAF Lossiemouth Scotland, with some activities conducted at the MOD Boscombe Down Wiltshire Line Station. The successful individual's main place of work will be at RAF Lossiemouth and they must be willing to travel and work from MOD Boscombe Down for a number of weeks per aircraft, to support the Flight Test schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Individual contributor in a small team providing assurance of all P145 Quality matters
- Internal Auditor to AS9100 standards conducting audits to meet the internal audit plan for on-site audit requirements
- Maintaining the QMS to support/maintain the MRP Part 145 activities and 3rd Party certificate requirements as necessary.
- Liaising with Boeing Supplier Quality (SQA) and Supply Management & Procurement (SM&P) to support supplier assessment and management as directed.
- Support on-site and contract Quality Assurance, including internal and supplier non-conformance management
- Reviewing internal occurrence reports, DASORs and undertaking safety/quality investigations
- Reviewing/amending internal documents, processes and procedures as directed.
- Participates in Quality reviews of proposals, contracts, regulatory, program and customer requirements to develop quality assurance strategies, plans and tests for hardware and software products, processes and services ensuring early quality involvement in program development.
- Development of Quality cost estimates based on Statements of Work (SOW) assigned.
- Develop and implement processes for determining, verifying and meeting Customer SOW requirements, including:
- Verification of product/services conformity to contractual requirements.
- Verification of compliance to Customers' requirement
- Participate in the maintenance of processes, procedures and metrics to assure program, contract, customer and regulatory requirements are adhered to, including:
- Validation of work instructions, tooling requirements, certifications, process standards, policies and procedures
- Identify and documents discrepancies, segregates and controls non-conforming items to prevent unintended use or delivery
- Verification of compliance to Regulatory requirements
- Identifying opportunities for corrective action while performing product or process verification
- Performs auditing, surveillance and monitoring against the approved audit plan, identifies and documents discrepancies and management of corrective actions to completion
- Segregation and control of non-conforming items
- To facilitate and sustain a Just Culture within the Boeing Defence UK Maintenance/Production Organisation
- Participate with stakeholders in the analysis process of unfavourable process data, customer complaints and metric results formulating mitigation plans utilizing the closed loop preventive / corrective action process, including:
- Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
Preferred Experience
- P145/Part M experience in a civil or military environment
- Safety Management Systems knowledge and experience
- Previous industry experience in the application of aviation safety policy
- Safety investigation and root cause corrective action experience, within the aviation industry
- Aviation Quality Management System (QMS) experience
- Ability to identify help needed and coordinate with the appropriate leaders and team members
- Qualified Auditor with experience in auditing techniques
- Experience compiling and reporting statistical data
- Must have a sound working knowledge of MAA/CAA/EASA (Part 145/Part M/Part 21).
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferably degree qualified, or equivalent, but not essential
- Experience with Data Analytics.
- Familiar with Boeing Process and Procedures would be beneficial.
