About The Role

At aberdeen Adviser, we are building a modern, scalable technology platform that empowers financial advisers to serve their clients more efficiently. Our engineering teams work in cross-functional squads to develop innovative, high-quality software solutions that make a real impact. We foster a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and continuous learning, where every engineer can shape the future of our platform.

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring that quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. Reporting to the Quality Engineering Chapter Lead, you will work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to champion a quality-first mindset, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of reliability, usability, and performance.

This role is a blend of quality assurance and quality coaching, where you will not only test software but also mentor developers on best practices, define test strategies, and advocate for testing from the customer’s perspective. You will drive both manual and automated testing approaches, selecting the best tools for the job in a polyglot environment.

In this role you will be able to make a real impact by ensuring our products are high-quality, user-friendly, and resilient. You will be working with modern testing approaches, including automation, performance testing, and CI/CD-driven quality strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and execute both automated and manual tests, ensuring software meets functional and non-functional requirements.
  2. Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure quality is built in from the start.
  3. Guide teams in test planning and execution, ensuring coverage for performance, security, accessibility, and usability.
  4. Foster a quality-first mindset, mentoring engineers on best practices in testing, CI/CD, and automation.
  5. Develop and maintain automated test suites, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines to accelerate feedback loops.
  6. Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability concerns, ensuring the best customer experience.
  7. Advocate for service reliability and real-world testing scenarios, considering performance under load, failover conditions, and system resilience.
  8. Write clear and reproducible defect reports and contribute to technical documentation.
  9. Take a polyglot approach to testing tools, selecting the best frameworks for different tech stacks and projects.
  10. Continuously improve QA processes, sharing knowledge with the wider team and driving quality initiatives.

About The Candidate

  1. Experience in manual and automated testing, with an understanding of when to apply each.
  2. Knowledge of testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Jest, JUnit, Postman, or similar).
  3. Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing.
  4. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think like a customer, ensuring usability and accessibility.
  5. Experience working in agile environments, embedding testing within cross-functional teams.
  6. A proactive mindset, always looking for ways to improve quality and streamline testing processes.
  7. Strong collaboration and coaching skills, with the ability to mentor engineers on best practices in quality.
