Main responsibilities of a Quality Engineer-Assurance Auditor
- To develop and deliver an effective approach to internal and supplier audits
- Assist in the development and management of a risk-based internal audit programme
- Assist in the management of external certification/accreditation, e.g. BSI, WIRS/GIRS/NIRS and Achilles
- Report accurately and effectively on Risk and IMS matters
- Assist in the development and management of the internal audit programme, which focuses on the current significant risks within the business
- Conduct internal Assurance audits in line with the internal audit programme
- Develop and implement an effective and concise audit reporting format, which clearly identifies areas of high risk, nonconformity and areas in need of attention
- Liaise with the supply chain function to develop an approach to supplier/subcontractor auditing, which targets high risk goods, works and services
Technical experience, skills and attributes required of a Quality Engineer-Assurance Auditor
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject matter or demonstrable experience in the fields of Quality Management and Auditing
- Trained Internal or Lead Auditor (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and/or OHSAS 18001)
- Proven experience in Quality, Safety and/or Environmental Management System auditing
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 with an understanding of the requirements of ISO 14001 and ISO 18001
- Experience in the utility sector in a quality/safety/environmental role
- Experience in producing accurate and concise audit reports
- Experience of influencing and persuading people, particularly with respect to the reporting of audit findings
- Ability to use appropriate technology to manage and deliver audit activity
- Ability to manage changing workload and conflicting priorities
- Training and facilitation skills and experience
