Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Barnsley

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with 1 hour for lunch

Our client’s business operates in various functionalities as part of its group of companies and is proud to be a leading distributor of sealing solutions to varied sectors. They also manufacture gaskets and plastic packaging and sell corporate clothing. The business forms part of a privately owned group of companies that has been established for almost 160 years! Requirements to fulfill the Quality role:

1. Experience of managing certification renewals – including ISO9001
2. Ability to read engineering drawings/specifications
3. Knowledge of ISO9001:2000 and trained in internal auditing
4. Maintaining quality manuals and associated documents
5. Responsibility for the monitoring and reporting of KPIs
6. Resolve product-related problems and supplier quality issues
7. Non-conformance/8D reporting
8. Day-to-day management of all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and associated documentation
9. Good communication and reporting skills between the shop floor and senior management
10. Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, IMDS, REACH, ROHS, ISO18001, ISO 14001 and Aerospace AS 9120 would be desirable but not essential
11. Experience in managing operations, facilities and maintenance

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintaining continuous accreditation renewal of certifications including ISO
2. Developing and implementing quality control tests
3. Inspecting products at various stages
4. Writing reports documenting production issues
5. Develop and implement quality control processes, procedures, and policies to ensure that products or services meet or exceed customer expectations
6. Monitor and analyse data related to quality control processes, identifying trends, and making recommendations for improvement
7. Communicate with other teams, departments, and stakeholders to ensure that quality control processes are aligned with business objectives
8. Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure that raw materials and components meet established quality standards
9. Manage and maintain quality control documentation, ensuring that all necessary records and reports are accurate and up-to-date
10. Management of maintenance and facilities which will include:

1. Ensuring regular inspections of premises and equipment to identify and address any issues promptly; including lifts, fire extinguishers, fire alarms, compressors, CCTV, and alarms and completing all associated paperwork
2. Organising contracted suppliers to carry out repairs
3. Monitoring and reviewing contracts for utilities, mobile phones, containers, recycling etc
