Job description

Job Title: QHSE Officer (Part-Time)
Location: Bacton (NR12), with occasional travel to other sites and main offices.

Hours: Part-time, 3 working days (22.5 hours per week).
Reporting to: Group QHSE Manager(s)

Permanent/Contract: Fixed Term or Contract

Salary: Up to £40k per annum FTE (Approx £24,000) or for contractors up to £50 per hour all in plus charge

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated QHSE Officer to support and enhance health, safety, and environmental compliance across site operations. This role is ideal for a proactive individual with experience in production, operations, or construction environments, looking to make a meaningful impact in a part-time capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure a safe working environment by supporting site teams and overseeing activities where required.
  2. Assist in the development, monitoring, and implementation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  3. Conduct QHSE audits in line with company and client requirements, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal policies.
  4. Communicate audit findings and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken, including updating procedures and delivering staff briefings.
  5. Support safety initiatives and encourage employee engagement through participation in health and safety awareness programs.
  6. Gather and analyze site statistics for monthly QHSE reporting.
  7. Investigate site incidents, accidents, near misses, and hazards, producing detailed reports and recommendations.
  8. Assist project teams in ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations 2015 and other industry standards.
  9. Collaborate with Site Supervisors to meet client and company specifications.
  10. Manage contractor compliance and safety performance.

Additional Duties:
  1. Review and update QHSE documentation in accordance with legal and company standards.
  2. Represent the company at client meetings, offering expert safety advice and support.
  3. Deliver in-house training sessions and toolbox talks.
  4. Undertake ad-hoc duties within your expertise as required by management.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:
  1. Proficiency in MS Office and report compilation.
  2. Strong communication and presentation skills.
  3. Ability to multitask and work independently.
  4. NEBOSH General Certificate / NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
  5. Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations and temporary works.
  6. Valid driving license with willingness to travel to sites across the UK.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
  1. Experience in gas services, projects, or construction industry.
  2. Face Fit Train the Tester, Emergency First Aid at Work, Mental Health First Aid training.
  3. CSCS (Energy & Utility Skills Register) certification.
  4. Experience in developing training materials and presentations.
  5. Auditor qualification (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  6. Environmental qualification.
