Job description

Looking for a great opportunity to use your purchasing/inventory control skills with a growing local transportation company where you can make a difference? Then IOC Company has an opportunity for you.

The Purchasing/Inventory Coordinator will manage and stock an inventory of frequently used parts for company trucking operations. This includes identifying frequently used parts and maintaining adequate stock of such parts. Responsible for ordering and tracking parts requested by maintenance. Additionally, will partner with operations to develop best practices for preventative maintenance schedules to maintain all equipment operating at maximum efficiency. May assist Maintenance Supervisor in supervising maintenance department.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Identify frequently used parts, place parts orders, track orders, stock parts
  • Maintain inventory level records with accuracy
  • Monitor and maintain Preventive Maintenance Program and Schedules
  • Assist with supervising maintenance department
  • Help plan and execute maintenance projects
  • Keeps the Maintenance Manager informed of ongoing project status and maintenance work
  • Maintain effective communication with department mechanics
  • Assist with ensuring accurate material and labor charge code use and assist with timekeeping requirements
  • Accurate and thorough documentation of hours worked per unit, tasking performed, materials used, and replenishing inventories
  • Some duties will be performed in environmentally challenging conditions including wind and extreme (Hot / Cold) weather conditions
  • Routinely utilize independent judgment and discretion to identify potential issues and solve problems
  • Proactively identify any unsafe conditions, hazards, or code violations and communicate them effectively to management
  • Learn and utilize computer-based labor, material, and maintenance tracking system
  • Evaluate and identify job hazards and effectively communicate information to staff verbally and in writing through various venues, including weekly and daily safety meetings
  • Tracks status of parts ordered and contacts vendors by phone and email as required
  • Perform other duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience with parts inventory
  • The ability to identify parts and order parts from vendors
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow established processes required
  • Computer skills with MS Office Suite experience to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Be able and willing to learn and effectively utilize computer-based labor, inventory, and maintenance tracking applications
  • Possess the competencies, willingness, and ability to perform the duties of this position
  • Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License issued in the United States
  • Authorized to work in United States

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with parts inventory and purchasing
  • Experience with Mechanical Maintenance Systems and Practices
  • Experience with cycle counts and inventory controls/theories
  • Experience with trucking operations

Education:

  • Associates Degree (Preferred but not Required)
