Job description

This role will support the Materials Manager in co-ordinating the purchasing function in a busy manufacturing environment.

Main Duties

  • Ensure accurate due dates on all outstanding purchase orders.
  • Organise and consolidate shipments in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Evaluate reorder quantity and reorder point on a regular basis.
  • Consolidate suppliers through re-sourcing.
  • Expedite all overdue orders and update due dates.
  • Daily monitoring of the shortage note system.
  • Organise logistics and shipping for 3rd party suppliers/rework
  • Run Stock Requisition Worksheet as requested to ensure materials are purchased in due time for production and sales.
  • Place all non-stock orders using the most cost-effective means of supply.
  • Communicate between sales and production any issues relating to shortages and quality.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Two years purchasing experience.
  • CIPS qualification would be an advantage.
  • Experience in manufacturing desirable.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Good problem solving.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Results focussed.

Hours and Reward

  • Mon-Thurs 8.00am - 4.30pm, Fri 8.00am - 1.00pm.
  • GBP30-33K.
  • Pension.
  • On site parking.
