Purchasing Assistant / £33,000 / Gillingham

Our client is a growing manufacturer within the design industry. We’re seeking a motivated Purchasing Assistant to help streamline procurement processes, drive cost savings, and maintain high-quality operations.

You will manage procurement, build supplier relationships, and ensure materials are available for smooth operations. You’ll focus on cost reduction, sourcing quality products, and improving efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Raise purchase orders and manage ad hoc procurement needs.
  2. Source high-quality ancillary products and negotiate pricing.
  3. Maintain strong supplier relationships.
  4. Drive cost-saving initiatives and improve processes.
  5. Place weekly material orders using the Ignite system.
  6. Explore cost-effective, environmentally friendly product alternatives.
  7. Manage inventory to ensure key materials are always available.

Required Skills & Experience:

  1. 1-2 years’ experience in procurement, preferably in manufacturing.
  2. Strong negotiation skills and ability to secure favourable terms.
  3. Experience driving cost savings and process improvements.
  4. Familiarity with internal systems (Ignite experience is a plus).
  5. Proactive, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Package & Benefits:

  1. Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 per annum (depending on experience).
  2. Bonus potential based on KPIs.
