Purchasing Assistant

About the role:

To support the activity of the Purchasing function, under the guidance of the Buyers, thus ensuring an efficient and cost-effective level of service to the business.

Main duties & responsibilities:

1. Responsible for managing quotation requests from the client on a daily basis in line with SLA.
2. Management and organisation of the rail communal mailbox, solving queries and escalating to the buyers where appropriate.
3. Preparation of enquiries and co-ordination of responses from suppliers.
4. Administrative duties that support the Purchasing team in delivering key business objectives and maintain the efficiency of the Purchasing function.
5. Support the operational supply function with problem resolution within the supply chain as appropriate.
6. Assist the buyers in ensuring client requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
7. Expediting quotes with new and existing suppliers.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

1. Computer literacy, especially strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and able to analyse data.
2. Confident and effective communicator.
3. Experience of communicating / interfacing with people on a regular basis.
4. Keen attention to detail and ability to multitask would be beneficial.
5. Ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritise workload accordingly.
6. Previous experience in a Purchasing & Supply environment is preferred.

Where we are:

Our head office is based at a purpose-built, state-of-the-art distribution facility on Buckshaw Village in Chorley with excellent transport links to the M61 and M6 plus a mainline train station less than a mile away. The office has on-site parking, shower facilities for those who brave the elements on a bike or on foot, and a subsidised canteen.

We are currently operating on a hybrid working basis; there will however be a period of time at the start of your employment spent fully working in our office, familiarising yourself with our systems and processes.
