The Role

We are seeking a forward-thinking Publishing Manager to lead our Metadata and Discovery team. This exciting, newly created role will be pivotal in shaping how our metadata enhances the accessibility and discoverability of digitised primary sources for academic and library communities.

As a Publishing Manager, you will oversee metadata strategies, optimise processes, and ensure alignment with the evolving needs of our users. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive innovation, promote best practices, and play a key role in the development of AM’s product suite.

Key Responsibilities

Metadata and Discovery
  • Lead metadata harvesting, enrichment, and deployment for digital primary source products.
  • Ensure metadata optimisation for discoverability and user engagement.
  • Collaborate across departments to align metadata strategies with product goals.
Team Leadership
  • Manage and inspire the Metadata and Discovery team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Develop workflows to meet KPIs, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Guide the enhancement of metadata for backlist resources in collaboration with sales, marketing, and technology teams.
Strategic Development
  • Define and refine KPIs to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, integrating emerging technologies into metadata practices.
  • Represent AM in industry discussions and advocate for metadata standards.

What We’re Looking For

Experience and Expertise
  • Extensive knowledge of metadata harvesting, generation, and enrichment.
  • Familiarity with library discovery services and content aggregation technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cataloguing standards and bibliographic services.
Skills And Aptitude
  • Commercially minded with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in developing workflows and applying emerging technologies.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to nurture team talent.
