Sanctuary Personnel is seeking an experienced Public Health Consultant to lead and drive health initiatives on behalf of the local authority in Kirklees, with a daily rate of £545.95. Working closely with the Director of Public Health (DPH) and other consultants, this role aims to improve the health and wellbeing of Kirklees residents by addressing key public health objectives, supporting the Health & Wellbeing Board, and advancing outcome indicators from public health, NHS, and social care frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Champion the development and implementation of systems and initiatives to improve health outcomes across the council and partner organisations, influencing budgets and advocating for changes that positively impact both population and planetary health.
Public Health Mandates: Ensure the delivery of mandated public health services, maximising health benefits for residents and reducing health inequalities.
Cross-Organisational Collaboration: Work with council directorates and partnership boards to optimise health improvement opportunities, using public health frameworks and relevant data systems to track progress.
Focused Health Outcomes: Drive improvements for specific client groups, such as early years, children, working adults, or older adults, while fostering integration across council services and public health initiatives.
Crisis and Health Protection: Maintain robust systems for responding to major incidents, including health protection threats, and oversee relevant public health mandates to safeguard the community.
Skills and Experience:
Proven ability to influence senior leaders, including directors and CEOs, and to lead or support teams at various levels.
Experience in managing successful change programmes across organisations and communicating public health messages effectively through media.
Strategic, analytical thinker with demonstrated leadership and management skills in unplanned circumstances.
Expertise in using complex data (both qualitative and quantitative) to address public health issues.
Strong understanding of the health and social care system, including relationships with local and national government.
Ability to promote collaboration with key partners addressing the wider determinants of health.
Health, GMC, or UKPHR registration is essential.
