Disrupt Agency is looking for an exceptional leader with tailored engagement and influencing skills to provide interim cover as Public Affairs Manager for an amazing UK charity.

The ideal candidate will be immediately available and have in-depth experience of leading, managing, and influencing Public Affairs. The Public Affairs Manager will be familiar with leading teams, delegating work, tracking deliverables, and engaging with key political and government contacts to maintain the pace of work across areas such as human trafficking, modern slavery, homelessness, and poverty; being a voice to highlight those who struggle to be heard by decision-makers.

The ideal applicant will be able to start as soon as possible, preferably before the last week of November 2024, and will be open to either an hourly rate (PAYE/Umbrella) or a salaried (FTC) role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead critical public affairs work, line managing two public affairs officers covering England, Scotland, and Wales on issues related to homelessness, poverty, and modern slavery.
  • Personally lead on engagement with the Government and our digital campaigns.
  • Work closely with the Policy Manager and PR/media colleagues to advance the organisation's public affairs activities.
  • Oversee all reputational matters that may arise at local and national levels.

You Will Need:

  • Experience in managing a team both onsite and remotely.
  • Ability to work from the London office (South East London) 2 days per week when everyone else is present in the office.
  • Demonstrable experience of influencing public policy and engaging in high-level public debate.
  • Excellent verbal and presentational skills with the proven ability to convey complex information and advise senior leadership effectively on political engagement, advocacy, and campaigning matters.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to prioritise work, respond to tight deadlines, use initiative, and make confident decisions at a management level.
