Psychology Graduate SEN TA – LSA – ASD – SEMH – Permanent – Cranleigh, Education and Training

Secondary/post 16 learning centre for young people with ASD/SEMH is looking for an enthusiastic Psychology Graduate SEN TA based in the heart of the community in Cranleigh. This is a new school that is part of an already established group of schools with a proven track record of providing outstanding levels of education to SEN students. With that in mind, it’s a really exciting time to join. The school has close links with other schools in the community and forms part of a larger group of specialist school settings. Due to the age of the students, there is a key focus on developing life skills that the students will need once they have completed their education at post 16.

Purpose of a Psychology Graduate SEN TA:

You will be required to provide support to the children with their learning and care whilst in school and other settings. The successful applicant will offer a tailored approach to individual children, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.

Hours and salary for a Psychology Graduate SEN TA - Cranleigh:

* 40 hours per week, term time only, 8.30am-4.30pm, flexibility is essential and you are required to work till 5pm one day a week for staff education and training meetings.
* This is a permanent role. The actual salary is £17,865-£21,163 – depending on experience.

Responsibilities of a Psychology Graduate SEN TA - Cranleigh:

1. To establish a warm, caring and supportive relationship with pupils in Cranleigh in order to support them feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn.
2. To promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour.
3. Support the Class Teacher in all areas of the day-to-day running of the class.
4. To respond to the varying and changing needs of the school and adapt to any task presented to achieve the smooth running of the school. Some physical intervention may be needed upon occasion; full training on this will be provided.
5. To promote pupils’ cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development and spiritual well-being.

Requirements and application process:

1. Post graduate qualification in psychology or criminology is desirable but not essential.
2. Level 2 - 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification (desirable but not essential).
3. Level 2 (GCSE) in Maths and English - essential.
4. Experience of working in a special school environment is desirable.
5. Team TEACH Training- desirable- Education and training.
6. A positive, proactive attitude with a genuine desire to work with students that have additional learning and behavioural needs.
