Job description

An exciting opportunity to join SLAM's Forensic Psychology & Psychotherapy department. We have a full time Band 7 vacancy split across Ward in the Community (WIC) forensic locked rehab unit and Lambeth Community Forensic Team (LCFT). Both services are currently based at the Lambeth Hospital site but will be moving to the Bethlem Royal and Maudsley Hospitals, respectively, when Lambeth Hospital closes.


WIC is a locked forensic rehab ward and LCFT is one of the four SLAM specialist (forensic) borough mental health teams. Both are key parts of the South London & Maudsley Forensic & Offender Health Pathway within the Croydon and Behavioural & Developmental Psychiatry Operational Directorate.


Both have close links with secure inpatient and other community forensic services within the pathway. Both comprise a multi-professional team that includes dedicated psychology / psychotherapy provision. The postholder will be aligned for direct clinical service provision to WIC and LCFT and will join a forensic psychology & psychotherapy teams that provide both inpatient and community-based interventions.


The postholder will work with the Ward in the Community and Lambeth Community Forensic Teams to deliver specialist clinical assessments and interventions (relevant to the forensic mental health population), while contributing to the wider forensic psychology & psychological therapies programme across the forensic service. This includes delivery of longer-term individual and group psychological therapies, from a range of modalities with an emphasis on both the treatment of psychological distress and reductions in risk.


The postholder will join a department of clinical and forensic psychologists / psychotherapists who work closely with forensic multi-professional teams, under the leadership of the Forensic Service P&P Leads.
