Job description

PSV or HGV Mechanic

Location: Thrupp near Oxford (OX5)

Pay: £40,000.00 - £45,000.00 per year

PSV or HGV Mechanic / Fitter required for maintenance of our coach and light commercial van fleet.

Job Overview

You will be joining our mechanical maintenance team maintaining and repairing our sleeper coach and splitter van fleet in our purpose-built workshops, located at our Thrupp site (OX5).

Duties will include:

  1. Carrying out vehicle servicing in accordance with company policy.
  2. Carrying out Periodic Maintenance Inspections and repairs to both company and DVSA standards.
  3. Preparing and presenting vehicles for MOTs.
  4. Diagnosing vehicle faults and specifying the correct method of repair; warranty claims must align with terms.
  5. Ensuring correct paperwork is completed and accurate records are maintained in a timely manner.
  6. Adhering to good housekeeping practices, including maintaining general tidiness in the workshop and returning all tools and equipment to their designated places.
  7. Attending on-road vehicle breakdowns.
  8. Carrying out vehicle road testing where necessary to determine specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.
  9. Complying with Health and Safety policy and guidance documents.
  10. Adopting methods of safe working.

Experience and Qualities:
  1. Level 3 NVQ in PSV or HGV maintenance, repair, and diagnostics or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 5 years industry experience with both mechanical and electrical systems.
  3. PSV licence is desirable (but not essential).
  4. Welding experience is also desirable.
  5. Proven knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  6. Ability to work effectively unsupervised, use own initiative, and maintain a consistent 'can do' attitude.

Remuneration and Hours:
  1. Full-time position / 40 - 45 hours per week including breaks.
  2. Overtime will be available when required during busy periods.
  3. Competitive rate of pay, in line with applicant's experience.
