Job Description:

We are currently recruiting a Protective Security Service Manager to work out of our Reading, Kemble Court offices. This role is a great opportunity to join a professional and driven Protective Security team and to be involved with the delivery of some challenging objectives.

As the Protective Security & Corporate Services Manager, you are responsible for managing the performance of our security services, ensuring our critical assets and corporate locations are secure and compliant with the relevant legislation. This will involve developing a strategic and comprehensive approach for responding to alarms and incidents.

What you will be doing as a Protective Security Service Manager

The successful candidate will act as the main point of contact between our third-party security services and the business. This includes proactive management and oversight of static guarding, mobile patrolling, temporary electronic security systems and any other associated security services across the Thames Water estate.

  • Proactive management of our third-party security services. Drive new business initiatives and opportunities across the contract and effectively implement any service variations, changes or agreed innovation.
  • Maintain close liaison and relationship management with the contractor teams regarding the status of contractual operations.
  • Develop and maintain a robust Patrol & Response function to operate proactively across our estate. Line management as required.
  • Accountable for Security across our corporate estate, ensuring compliance, managing Security Incidents, and embedding learnings.
  • Providing practical security advice to TW colleagues as a subject matter expert to support compliance across the business.
  • Deputise for senior members of the team and be part of the ‘escalation rota’.
  • Responsible for delivering agreed security KPIs and adhering to agreed SLAs.
  • Accountable for carrying out regular risk register reviews for our corporate sites alongside key stakeholders.
  • Hold key relationships with internal senior managers and external stakeholders. (Intelligence Agencies, Specialist Police Units, Local Resilience Forums & Regulators including DEFRA and DWI)

The base location for this role will be Kemble Court, Reading, on a Hybrid basis.
Hours of work are 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role

Key Experience Required:
  • Experience within physical security role, with extensive security management experience gained in a similar role.
  • A broad understanding of the security industry, regulatory framework and the market.
  • Strong understanding of physical security principles, methodology and processes.
  • Have experience in the design and application of physical & personnel security measures. Applying physical security principles, methodology and processes.
  • Understanding of security regulations, laws, and industry standards. (e.g. SEMD, PSG, WUKSS, NPSA)
  • Have experience investigating security incidents and ensuring learnings become embedded in future practices.

Key Competencies Required:
  • Strong Analytical and Logical mindset for Continuous Improvement.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office 360 products.
  • Be self-motivated, committed and organised to manage multiple priorities.
  • Leadership skills.
  • Strong Collaboration and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) before starting within this role.
