Property Specialist (Operational) - Multi Trade Carpenter

Location(s): Central London

Flexible Working: This role does not allow for remote or home working. The role is full time, with varied working hours according to business needs.

Salary: Starting basic salary is £40,629 rising to £43,923 after one year. This role also attracts a technical framework allowance and disruption allowance that you’ll have the opportunity to apply for once your training is complete. By your second year as a fully trained and deployable property specialist you may be able to earn £51,039, not accounting for overtime or on-call payments.

The Role: As a Property Specialist (Operational), you’ll provide specialist building trade services for MI5, including carpentry, joinery, minor electrical works, and plastering. You will carry out work to a high standard, often at short notice and under tight deadlines. This role requires you to react quickly to changes as your team provides a 24/7 service to keep the country safe.

About You: To apply for this role, you’ll need to hold a City & Guilds Level 3, BTEC, NVQ or equivalent qualification in joinery/carpentry, and be able to evidence working experience that supports your skills. You’ll have a good working knowledge of the building trade and a full UK driving licence. You’ll also need to pass an initial fitness test, repeated yearly, with 2 hours per week of paid time to maintain the required fitness standards.

You’ll be self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing requirements. Good communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with people from all backgrounds. You should also have a basic understanding of IT packages such as Word, Outlook, or Excel.

Training and Development: The initial training for the role may take up to 18 months, consisting of in-house training and external courses. Following your initial training, we’ll continue to support your career development with access to further training.
