The opportunity:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Property and Casualty Underwriter to join our new business team. As a Property and Casualty Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing and evaluating insurance applications to determine the level of risk involved and make informed decisions on coverage and premiums.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Review and analyse insurance applications for property and casualty risks.
  2. Assess the level of risk involved and determine appropriate coverage and premiums.
  3. Conduct thorough research and gather relevant information to make informed underwriting decisions.
  4. Collaborate with brokers to obtain necessary documentation and clarify any discrepancies.
  5. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and guidelines to ensure compliance and accurate risk assessment.
  6. Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.
  7. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.

Your skills and experience:

  1. Proven experience as a Property and Casualty Underwriter or similar role.
  2. In-depth knowledge of property and casualty insurance policies, regulations, and underwriting guidelines.
  3. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex information.
  5. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Proficient in using underwriting software and other relevant tools.
  7. Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
