Job Advert – Client-Side Project Manager / Project Surveyor (Capital Works)
Client: Local Authority / Public Sector Organisation
Location: [South London]
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: £55 per hour Umbrella LTD

About the Role: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Client-Side Project Manager/ Surveyor to lead and deliver building capital projects and programmes from inception through to completion. You’ll play a key role in managing all stages of construction delivery across corporate properties, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
This role is suited for someone with a solid background in project and contract management, who can work confidently with contractors, consultants, and internal teams in a complex public sector environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver capital projects and programmes from initiation to completion, including post-occupancy review.
  2. Manage stakeholder engagement and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  3. Provide expert advice on procurement strategy, selecting and managing consultants and contractors.
  4. Lead and guide both internal and external project teams, ensuring timely and quality project delivery.
  5. Monitor and report on progress and budget performance; ensure value for money during construction.
  6. Apply modern construction methods and techniques where applicable.
  7. Ensure project documentation, handovers, and post-completion reviews are delivered to standard.

Experience Required:
  1. Proven track record of managing multiple construction projects, contractors, and stakeholders.
  2. Experience working on corporate or public sector property projects.
  3. Strong contract knowledge, particularly JCT and/or NEC contracts.
  4. Familiarity with RIBA construction stages and standard project lifecycles.
  5. Experience delivering large-scale, complex capital construction programmes.
  6. Capable of acting as Client-Side PM, managing project consultants and delivery partners.

Qualifications:
  1. Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Construction, Building Surveying, or Project Management.
  2. Project Management training (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, MSP) is highly desirable.
