We're looking for an exceptional Project Support Officer Level 3 to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Project Support Officer, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and we will also try our best to consider those intending to work a job share. Your world of expertise

You will be a part of the Met Office Portfolio Office Delivery Support Team, providing first line support to Met Office Project Delivery.

Your key duties:

  • Manage the Portfolio Office Service Desk as the main point of contact for Met Office employees to receive project delivery guidance and support.
  • Support the continuous improvement of Portfolio Office services to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Manage and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and deliver the Project Delivery communications plan.
  • Provide support to project teams in the use and implementation of project delivery best practice and supporting tools.
  • Assist with and maintain the Portfolio Office risk and issue log, escalating as appropriate.
  • Support the development of Met Office Project Delivery Maturity, for example through provision of support to Portfolio Office Function Leads with Assurance, Risk, Benefits Management, Planning, Dependency Management and Cost.

As our Project Support Officer, your total reward package will be up to £57,639 annually, which includes:

  • £41,725 base pay
  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

  1. Live and breathe it - Proven experience in a project/programme delivery environment and passion for project delivery.
  2. Expert by nature - Demonstrable knowledge of the application of project controls such as scheduling, cost, risk or benefits management.
  3. Expert by nature - Excellent planning and organisational skills, demonstrating the ability to prioritise and manage simultaneous tasks unsupervised.
  4. We keep evolving - Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and maximum impact.
  5. Better together - Strong stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to quickly establish rapport and build effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  6. Better together - Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and a commitment to achieving shared goals.
