Working Well is commissioned by Essex County Council and sits within the Essex Wellbeing Service. This fast paced, innovative programme supports the national and local agenda around health, wellbeing and health inequalities, ensuring that the Essex population is healthy and productive.
The pilot project will align with the Essex County Council Wellbeing, Public Health and Communities Business Plan and Everyone’s Essex Plan, by helping people to live healthy lifestyles by reducing prevalence of the leading risk factors that contribute to ill health and premature mortality.
This new, fixed term post, requires high level project management knowledge and experience of implementing and delivering a programme that coordinates multiple workstreams with a range of key stakeholders, to deliver an innovative digital health checks project, that will run alongside existing services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will need to ensure smooth execution, facilitation and monitoring of the project, that is delivered effectively in line with the organisations guidance for managing projects and PMO project assurance processes.
The post holder will also need to have a good working knowledge of Essex and will need to have a clean driving license and access to a vehicle to visit various sites across the County, on a regular basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Responsible for development and delivery of the digital health check programme, including identifying risks, and providing innovative solutions.
- Develop and maintain information systems that will assist with the management of the project, which will include visiting and mapping sites across the County.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of training protocols and asset management systems, to ensure the project achieves the highest engagement and outcomes.
- Co-ordinate internal and external meetings with a range of stakeholders, including action logs.
- Undertake related research as required to support project activities, including identifying venues and events which will engage target populations.
- Prepare high level, concise and accurate up-to-date reports, documents, presentations and materials using a range of Microsoft Office applications as well as specialist applications.
- Undertake in-depth analysis of performance, using a range of information systems, appropriate for different stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.
- Demonstrate judgement and awareness of confidentiality when dealing with enquiries or departmental business.
- Use initiative and judgment when handling enquiries and responses across a range of mediums (phone call, Face to Face, Teams calls, emails etc), taking action and providing feedback as appropriate.
- Support the Project Lead developing communications for social media channels.
- Be responsible for the production of high level analysis and reporting of outcomes, suitable for different partners and stakeholders. The role will include using this analysis to gain feedback and to inform service improvement or development, specifically to reduce inequalities in health.
- Be responsible for the upkeep and development of the project resources, including the digital health check units, related documentation.
- Liaise with other internal departments or external partners to maximise the utilisation of the digital health check units.
- Attend a range of outside events to promote the project.
- Be responsible for the continuous improvement of policies and procedures that relate to the project.
- Take responsibility for establishing and maintaining your own records and documentation in line with information governance guidelines.
- Responsible for physical assets for the project.
Person specification
Qualifications and Education
- Degree /NVQ L6 in Public Health or relevant level of qualification or significant previous proven experience in project management experience in health or community development.
Work related knowledge and experience
- Demonstrable experience of managing multiple workstreams, and providing reports for a wide range of key stakeholders and partners.
- Demonstrable experience of a range of IT applications: Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, including data manipulation skills, Web Applications and project management systems.
- High level of experience in dealing with the public and key stakeholders and dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- Clear and demonstrable understanding of health inequalities and the main issues affecting the local community.
- Post holder will have a good working knowledge of Essex.
- Knowledge of the NHS Health Check programme.
- Experience of managing outside events/activities.
Skills and Aptitudes
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams, whilst being sensitive to the aspirations and constraints of partners.
- Experience of building strong relationships with a range of partners by communicating project aims and outcomes.
- Clear Communicator with excellent writing, data entry and presentation skills, capable of delivering high level, complex information/instructions to colleagues, partners and service users, via email, MS Teams or face to face.
- Ability to work independently to manage workload with minimal supervision, organise and prioritise their workload on a daily basis.
- High level of experience of producing reports and analysis with a high level of precision for optimal resource allocation.
