Project Support Officer

Description & Requirements

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Project Support Officer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based remotely but does include 3 days a week on site in Corsham.

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is a central government department with a mission to protect our country and provide the ultimate guarantee of its security and independence, as well as helping to protect its values and interests abroad.

To do this, we have an annual budget of almost £40 billion and a workforce comprising 193,000 people, almost 59,000 of whom are civilians. We currently manage more than £11 billion of spend every year.

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role; as a minimum, you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.

As a Project Support Officer, your main responsibilities will be:

1. Support the delivery of the project’s objectives.
2. Develop, maintain, and document appropriate plans and controls for the project in line with the change lifecycle.
3. Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.
4. Prepare project performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information.
5. Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently.
6. Manage Issues, Risks, Assumptions, and Dependencies and other controls.
7. Responsible for identifying, developing, and deploying resources.
8. Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Project Manager.
9. Build professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
10. Draft and sign-off correspondence.
11. Monitor project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business case.
12. Work with risk managers to manage potential risk areas, escalating as appropriate.

1. Strong experience in supporting a business team.
2. Secretariat experience and skillset.
3. Stakeholder engagement at all levels.
4. Diary management and arranging meetings.
5. Excellent communication skills.
6. Microsoft Office Suite.
7. Strong self-starter.
