Job description

Are you an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in managing two-stage tender processes? Are you skilled in commercial office fit-out and cut & carve projects valued at £5-15m? If you are seeking an exciting opportunity to work on a prestigious project in London, then we have the perfect role for you!


Specialising in delivering high-quality commercial office fit-out and cut & carve projects in the heart of London, we are currently seeking a talented and motivated Project Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team and contribute to the successful completion of our diverse portfolio of projects.


Responsibilities:
  1. Manage all aspects of the commercial and contractual aspects of projects, from inception to completion, with a focus on commercial office fit-out and cut & carve projects.
  2. Lead and oversee the tendering process, including the preparation of accurate and comprehensive bills of quantities, cost estimates, and pricing documents.
  3. Collaborate closely with the Estimating and Pre-Construction teams to ensure seamless transition from the tender stage to the project execution phase.
  4. Conduct thorough cost analysis, risk assessment, and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs and achieve budget targets.
  5. Provide expert advice on contract terms, variations, and claims, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and mitigating potential risks.
  6. Prepare and manage accurate cost reports, cash flow projections, and valuations throughout the project lifecycle.
  7. Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to negotiate and finalize subcontract agreements and supply contracts.
  8. Monitor project costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement effective cost control measures.
  9. Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, measure quantities, and verify the accuracy of measurements against project plans and specifications.
  10. Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and the wider project team to ensure effective communication and smooth project delivery.
  11. Keep abreast of industry trends, changes in regulations, and best practices in commercial office fit-out and cut & carve projects.
Requirements:
  1. Proven experience as a Project Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on commercial office fit-out and cut & carve projects.
  2. Strong background in managing two-stage tender processes, from tender preparation to final contract negotiations.
  3. Solid knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT and NEC, and experience in contract administration and variation management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate bills of quantities, cost estimates, and pricing documents.
  5. Proficient in conducting cost analysis, risk assessment, and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs.
  6. Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  7. Strong understanding of project cost control, cash flow management, and accurate reporting.
  8. Experience in Central London commercial projects is highly desirable.
  9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  10. Proficiency in using relevant quantity surveying software and tools.
  11. Relevant professional qualifications, such as RICS, are preferred.
