Job description

Based in Horncastle, Lincolnshire

Fixed term contract

Circa £26,000 pa, pension contribution, flexible working arrangements

Job Overview

We are seeking to recruit a peatlands Project Officer to work with our partners within the Humberhead Levels. The individual needs to have a ‘can do’ attitude working with people to secure opportunities for large scale nature recovery across the Lincolnshire peatlands within the Natural Character Area (NCA39) and working with their counterparts within Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Understand and apply environmental legislation in England, including the Environment Act and the Government’s Environmental Improvement Plan.
  2. Recognize the role of peatlands in achieving Net Zero and the importance of restoring and enhancing peatland sites.
  3. Secure excellent water resource management for cultural, natural, and historic heritage purposes.
  4. Work with a suite of land managers, authorities, and other bodies to deliver peatland restoration and monitoring in a lowland setting.
Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  1. Experience in partnership working, advocacy, and project management.
  2. Excellent communication skills.
  3. A high level of commitment to nature’s recovery and a desire to achieve change.
  4. A relevant environmental qualification or equivalent working experience.
  5. A full current UK driving licence.
