Role: Project Manager (Solar & BESS)

Location: Birmingham

Salary: Competitive

Type: Mixture of office, site and home. Preferably someone within a reasonable commute to Birmingham.

Client Description:
A specialised engineering company with over 10 years of proven large-scale construction experience in renewable energy generation projects. They offer a comprehensive range of services, including project management, design, studies, procurement, construction, and operation & maintenance services.

Role Description:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing solar and BESS projects, strong technical skills, and the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand and interpret civil and electrical drawings.
• Extract necessary information from drawings and relay it to relevant parties and site teams.
• Use AutoCAD to comment on or modify drawings when changes occur.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality checks on works undertaken on-site.
• Ensure all works comply with industry standards and project specifications.
• Manage civil and electrical subcontractors effectively.
• Ensure subcontractors adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
• Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Programs of Work (PoW), Progress Reports, and QA/QC documentation.
• Maintain tidy and methodical project cost control.
• Understand the project lifecycle and work sequences on-site.
• Adjust works as necessary and utilize on-site resources to meet project deadlines and client needs.
• Foresee potential issues on-site and proactively prevent them from occurring.
• Support site teams with material and equipment procurement.
• Maintain good communication with site teams and clients.
• Address client concerns and ensure client satisfaction.
• Proven track record of solar project delivery with string and central inverters.
• Proven track record of BESS project delivery with CATL, Ener1, Ener C, Sungrow batteries, etc.
• Experience with communication, signal, and fire panel schematics and equipment needs for BESS projects.
• Exhibit a problem-solving mindset and the ability to operate under stress.
• Able to travel and stay away as needed.

Requirements:

• Full driving license is mandatory.
• Industry-related qualifications or a Bachelor's degree.
• Strong technical skills in AutoCAD.
• Experience in project cost control.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in the renewable energy sector.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
