IT Project Manager Lead/Specialist

Contract (long-term)

100% Remote

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget and scope. This includes obtaining necessary budgetary approval, acquiring resources, and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The role will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Essential Functions:

  1. Proactively manage project scope, timeline, risks, and budget according to Project Management Office (PMO) processes from beginning to end.
  2. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules with dependencies, milestones, critical path, and named resources.
  3. Communicate and provide continuous visibility to a current schedule according to PMO processes and procedures.
  4. Forecast and manage project spend according to PMO processes and procedures.
  5. Lead project teams in conflict and issue resolution, and risk identification and mitigation.
  6. Conduct project post-mortems/lessons learned and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  7. Effectively communicate project Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and success expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  8. Develop and grow relationships with project leaders and stakeholders vital to the success of the projects.
  9. Monitor overall PMO performance based on measures and observation and implement improvement mechanisms.
  10. Provide coaching on PMO processes to include deliverables, planning, budget management, risk and issue identification and remediation, escalation procedures, project governance, troubled project recovery, and other areas that will contribute to project success and process compliance.
  11. Provide thought leadership to project teams and stakeholders on project success criteria.
  12. Ensure consistency and quality in the project management methodologies, services, and deliverables; identifying and implementing improvements.
  13. Assist other project managers to ensure governance controls are identified and documented when working with third parties.
  14. Provide input for contract, associate, staff, and senior-level project managers’ performance reviews and oversee their day-to-day activities.
  15. Utilize leadership skills to effectively and professionally communicate issues and concerns.
  16. Utilize leadership skills to coach, mentor, and train new and contract project managers on PMO standards and processes.

Education/Work Experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business, Information Technology, or related discipline, and 7 years of directly related experience.
  2. Associate's Degree in Project Management, Business, Information Technology, or related discipline, and 10 years of directly related experience.
  3. 12 years of directly related experience.
  4. Related experience includes leading or managing projects within an IT setting, working with large data sets, and making data-driven analytical decisions.

KSAs:

  1. Adept in providing coaching on the ability to be persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
  2. Strong experience with Microsoft Project and other company software, such as SAP.
  3. Possesses problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  5. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  6. Aptitude for conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  7. Ability to successfully work in a deadline-focused, results-oriented environment.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  1. Office work using computers.
  2. May be required to travel.
  3. May be required to work non-standard hours.
