Solar Careers UK, is a division of the solar industry's trade association Solar Energy UK, who represent 425+ solar businesses, many that specialise in providing high quality solar installations to domestic, commercial, and utility-scale clients. We have been asked to assist them with the recruitment of full-time and permanent installation teams from across all regions of the United Kingdom.

An ethical global developer of renewable energy assets, established to capture, consolidate and rapidly expand their renewable energy project development expertise and presence is looking for a Project Manager to work remotely with site and office visits.

THE ROLE

We are recruiting for a high energy Project Manager to join our Project Delivery Team overseeing the construction of subsidy free solar assets here in the UK. It's a permanent role that will report to our Head of Project Management. As Project Manager, the role holder will work closely with the broader Technical Team and the subsidy-free client team responsible for managing the development and construction of the site from the early stages of development to handover and project closing. You will be part of the UK based team, so if you are based outside of London, you will need to be able to travel regularly to our offices in London.

Requirements

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Time management & prioritization skills - things can get a little hectic, so the ability to effectively manage yourself and your workload is critical.
  • Excellent communication skills (in English or/and other European languages) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to together well-written, grammatically correct emails and other communications. When communicating verbally - whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings - you will need to be articulate, warm and engaging.
  • Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelled out in your job description.
  • Intellectual Curiosity - Technical Management is a broad and nuanced field and we are looking for someone who is truly interested in our profession and has the intellectual curiosity to delve deep into topics and bring fresh ideas into the team.
  • IT Literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data (you should have at least intermediate-level excel).
  • Delivery focus - it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters!

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Solar PV plant construction (minimum 2 years), including experience in subsidy-free projects.
  • Engineering Degree or similar educational background is a must.
  • Project management related qualifications (PMP certification or Prince2) would be an advantage.
  • Excellent project management skills with a highly organised, systematic approach - but the ability to be flexible and adaptable as required.
  • Specific knowledge on Power System especially in Grid code would be an advantage.
  • Oversight of the construction process with responsibility for Health and Safety compliance.
  • Able to effectively apply our company methodology and enforce project standards.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Able to identify activities/procedures to minimize our project's risk.
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Must be a proficient user of Microsoft Office package including MS Project. Knowledge of other software such as AutoCAD, PVCase or PVSyst would be an advantage.
