About The Role

Currie & Brown are looking for a Project Engineer to join our onsite project management team.

As a Project Engineer, focused on Airfield Construction Programme, you will ensure optimal development and delivery of Airfield projects, ensuring compliance with technical, quality, cost, schedule, and business requirements. Your role is pivotal in leading the design of large, strategically important projects with typical budgets over £10 million, ensuring that design meets project requirements while achieving real value for money. This role has involvement in every stage of the project process, including ensuring all projects are installed in line with approved designs.

The role

Reporting into the Programme Design Manager/Senior Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the Construction team, responsible for ensuring design meets needs across varied multi-million-pound projects, including working in defined sub-programmes on complex projects.

Other duties include:

  1. Developing project scope to meet the business needs along with delivering effective design management on individual projects.
  2. Developing the design brief for external design consultants, ensuring that the design contract is implemented and effectively managed through the design process.
  3. Providing guidance on design solutions promoting the use of best practice and innovative techniques, technologies, and processes. Driving consistency and identifying opportunities for efficiencies within project delivery.
  4. Working with multiple stakeholders to support the successful delivery of projects.
  5. Seeking cost-effective design solutions and managing external design consultants.
  6. Providing technical input to any design changes through the lifecycle of the project.
  7. Undertaking the role of Principal Designer Contact to discharge the duties of Principal Designer (CDM Regulations 2015) with the support of CDM Advisor.

What are we looking for?

The live environment requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with problem-solving skills and an innovative outlook. Involved in projects from inception to completion, you’ll work alongside multiple stakeholders. In addition, this role requires:

  1. University degree in electrical engineering or construction-related discipline – or significant experience in lieu of education/qualifications.
  2. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of technical and regulatory requirements related to electrical engineering within an airfield environment.
  3. Knowledge of airfield ground lighting (AGL) airfield systems and associated airfield electrical infrastructure.
  4. Knowledge of and experience in aerodrome design standards is desirable.
  5. Basic understanding of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) is desirable.
  6. Experience of coordinating design teams and multi-discipline engineering resources with a particular focus on electrical engineering.
