Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for two Project Engineers to join our team based at our Nestlé UK&I, Tutbury Factory.

The Project Engineer will manage the design, installation, and commissioning of capital investment projects on site and support the start-up lead with the start-up phase of the project, within the defined scope of responsibility or specialisation. Ensure that the objectives of the investment project charter, design specifications, Nestlé standards & international standards are implemented and adhered to.

A day in the life of a Project Engineer

At the concept stage, you will be engaging with stakeholders, suppliers, and technical support to agree on a design which satisfies the technical, quality, and safety standards of the business. You will prepare business case studies to present to the business for CAPEX funding.

At the installation stage, you will be coordinating the daily and upcoming activities. Managing contractors and suppliers, you will permit work daily, visit the site, and ensure site safety and install quality, while communicating back to stakeholders on progress, budget, and timelines.

What Will Make You Successful

To be successful in this role, we expect you to ideally have experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment. Having experience managing Capex projects is essential for this role.

The ideal candidate will also have experience ensuring that the engineering side of projects has been implemented (e.g. buildings, equipment installations, piping, utilities, etc.) in accordance with the defined timing, cost, and quality, the URS, and the characteristics of a unit operation.

Other key attributes we are looking for are:

  • Ideally degree educated in a mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering field and/or completion of a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Technical knowledge and practical experience of working within Health & Safety legislation (PUWER CDM etc).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with others, e.g., Safety Health & Environment, Production, Maintenance, QA, Contractors, etc.
  • Leadership skills, ability to lead meetings, and delegate tasks to other members of the project team. A self-starter with initiative to research topics and work out solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Financial management skills: reviewing, controlling, and forecasting spent, and working closely with the purchasing department to tender for and purchase new equipment.
  • Commitment to a strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, safety, compliance, and quality. Work to a high standard with a strong attention to detail.

What You Need To Know

What can we offer in return? Great benefits you’d expect from a business the size of Nestlé – in the shape of a competitive salary and benefits package, bonus scheme, flexible working scheme, 25 days holiday plus statutory holidays plus flex leave, pension scheme, and a real focus on personal development and growth.

The closing date for this role is 03/04/2025
