Project Engineer:About the job:Our client is a fast-growing provider of innovative R&D and engineering solutions in the energy industry through subsea Chopsaws. They currently have a focus on the decommissioning and IRM Oil & Gas markets, operating in Australia, USA, Brazil, North Sea, and across the far east.
This is an exciting role that would offer the opportunity to work on projects across the globe whilst being part of a small, agile team of 20 people. They are currently looking to hire a project engineer with a strong mechanical background and technical expertise. This is someone who can work on the production of custom tooling here in Aberdeen, as well as the flexibility to go offshore and complete projects around the globe for our valued clients. The role is on a full-time, permanent basis and will be based in Aberdeen with travel at a premium day rate for offshore project execution.

The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:- Manage and oversee new builds (subsea tools) and live projects.
- Carry out all technical and administrative tasks as directed by the engineering manager.
- Manage project costs and ensure timely completion and delivery of projects.
- Create engineering procedures, testing documentation, and bid proposals.
- Review engineering deliverables for other team members.
- Participate in design reviews for new tooling.
- Provide technical support to clients during the tender process.
- Create new designs and perform design verification (FEA) to support projects and new tooling.
- Become an offshore lead on cutting work scopes.
- Undertake the preparation, modification, and operational readiness of equipment to Company standards in a safe and efficient manner.
- Undertake the testing, diagnosis, and repair of equipment in line with work plans up to the required quality and certification standards.
- Report all incidents and non-conformances in line with the appropriate procedures and deadlines.
- Actively participate in meetings to discuss safety, maintenance status/tasks, mobilization/demobilization updates, etc.
- Perform client demonstrations as and when required.
Mandatory Requirements:- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Solidworks).
- Strong mechanical and hydraulics ability.
- The ability to problem solve and come up with good working solutions.
- Flexibility for travel around the world sometimes at short notice.
- Effective, confident communicator both verbally and in writing - strong technical writing & documentation preparation skills.
- Able to work independently and within integrated local and virtual teams.
- Good computer literacy with particular competence in MS Office software.
- Full command of the English language, written and spoken.
- Positive attitude & team player.
Preferred Requirements:- Mechanical (or similar) engineering degree.
- Offshore experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Oil and gas industry experience (preferably subsea).
- Finite element analysis (FEA) experience.
- Subsea tooling experience.
- Forklift license - we can offer training if required.
Salary range: £50k to £65k
Offshore rate: day rate uplifted to £400 per day and £450 per day if the lead offshore technician.
