ARE YOU THE PERSON WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
An opportunity has arisen within our Assembly Division Engineering team for a Project Engineer. Working in the Assembly Division Engineering team at Routeco means working in partnership with external Sales teams to produce proposals for new assembly business. So, we are looking for someone with the ability to manage projects throughout the Engineering, Quotation and Production phases for our value-added services.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Daily Management of Enquiries: Handle inquiries from both sales teams and external customers.
- Proposal Creation: Develop proposals based on electrical/mechanical schematics and Bills of Materials for industrial applications.
- Engineering Support: Assist in managing multiple works orders, supporting the production team on technical and design aspects of the build process.
- Inspection & Test Support: Support inspection and testing of assembled products when required.
- Project Schedule Management: Maintain and track project schedules to ensure timely delivery.
- Supplier Liaison: Communicate with non-franchise suppliers and the purchasing department regarding product pricing and availability for production.
- Documentation Control: Ensure proper documentation control for all assembly division projects and contract customers.
- Technical Input: Contribute to weekly project engineering update meetings with valuable technical insights.
- Process Improvement: Identify and suggest improvements to customer assemblies and build instructions to streamline processes.
- Personal Development Accountability: Take responsibility for your own development and contribute to performance evaluations based on core competencies and the company's learning and development framework.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Additional Tasks: Take on other tasks to meet departmental, project, or developmental objectives.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING TO ROUTECO?
- ONC in electrical engineering (or equivalent qualification) is highly desirable.
- Application and product knowledge of Industrial Control & Automation components would be advantageous.
- Previous experience within an electrical engineering / panel building role.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to work in a structured environment and the persistence to see tasks through to completion.
- A methodical and precise approach to work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office systems such as Word, Excel, Project, Planner...
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical solutions and continuous improvements for both the customer and company.
- Strong ability to plan and prioritise tasks effectively will be key in the job role.

- Salary of £30,000 - £36,000 DOE
- Hours: 37.5 per week
