Main Purpose of the Project Engineer:

The execution and co-ordination of multi-discipline engineering projects associated with onshore fuel pipelines and associated facilities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities (typical day to day):
Planning and Project Management
  1. Provide project control from initial approval through to commissioning and handover.
  2. Ensure agreed staff-hours and cost targets are adhered to.
  3. Prepare project plans and programmes.
  4. Ensure work is carried out in accordance with BPA procedures to client satisfaction.
Design
  1. Identify and manage design risks.
  2. Provide appropriate engineering designs in accordance with relevant company, client, national and international standards.
  3. Develop design and construction drawings.
  4. Conduct design reviews with project stakeholders.
Procurement
  1. Prepare contract documentation for procurement of services and materials.
  2. Evaluate tenders and provide recommendations for contract award.
  3. Authorise invoices and monitor project spend.
Construction / Commissioning
  1. Manage on site construction contracts.
  2. Liaise with onsite staff to ensure health and safety targets are achieved.
  3. Assist in the preparation of commissioning plans.
General
  1. Maintain good client relationships.
  2. Adapt to changing priorities presented by client requirements.
  3. Ensure good engineering practices are maintained.
  4. Assist in the development of scopes of work and budgets.
  5. Operate to expected quality standards.
Requirements (qualifications, education, experience and/or skills):
  1. Graduate Engineer with BEng equivalent in relevant discipline.
  2. Minimum 2 years experience in engineering or consultancy.
  3. Knowledge in specified engineering discipline (preferable in the context of the design, project engineering and construction).
  4. Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  5. Can perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
  6. Proficient with desktop applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  7. Valid UK driving licence.
