Lead the engineering development of new manufacturing equipment, products, and processes. Key responsibilities include:
Capital Expenditure Requests: Identify, prepare, and propose new manufacturing equipment capital expenditure requests, including costs, ROIs, and timelines.
Project Management: Plan, organize, and lead large engineering projects from conceptualization to launch.
Collaboration: Confer with applications for engineering, industrial controls, manufacturing, and outside integrators to ensure equipment requirements are met.
Project Scheduling: Prepare and adhere to project schedules, raise issues to meet deadlines, and take necessary steps to resolve them.
Design and Development: Conceptualize, design, and detail key elements of new automated manufacturing equipment.
Budget Monitoring: Monitor project expenditures within the limitations of the project budget.
Documentation: Prepare or coordinate the preparation of system layouts, detailed drawings, 3D models, schematics, and all other engineering documentation.
Risk Management: Develop project risk summaries and coordinate with project teams or outside integrators to mitigate risks.
Design Evaluation: Evaluate and approve design changes, specification changes, and drawing releases.
Technical Support: Provide technical support for existing processes.
Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers.
Part Orders: Process new part orders, including designing parts, writing Master Data Sheets, and designing and ordering tooling.
Product Launch: Perform product launch processes, including new part quotes, new part setup, and prototype builds, adhering to appropriate product development tools (APQP, CP, DFMEA, PFMEA, etc.).
Qualifications:
Education: BS in Engineering or related technical degree.
Experience: Three to five years in product or process development.
Functional Areas: Experience in multiple functional areas.
CAD Software: Three to five years of experience using 3D CAD software for design.
Project Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading projects from concept to successful launch or implementation.
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated technical expertise in automated technology.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of industrial controls, mechatronics, and a basic understanding of PLCs.
